No Disguise

Album art for rapper and producer FDot1

PROJECT

A visual identity built around intimacy, isolation, and raw presence.

Shot entirely in low light, the project explores how minimal elements

can carry emotional weight through composition and tone.

PROTOTYPE

Initial typographic explorations focused on tone and restraint, using serif forms to introduce a sense of weight and permanence.

At this stage, the direction leaned more structured and traditional, but lacked the emotional immediacy needed to match the photographic language.

FINAL VERSION

Following feedback, the typography shifted to a sans-serif to create a more immediate and contemporary feel.

The image was brightened to reveal more of the brick wall, and subtle grain was introduced to reflect the raw, old-school tone of the track. The vinyl record was also suggested to be removed from the cover.

Outcome

The project establishes a restrained visual identity built on tone, contrast, and minimal intervention.

By combining low-light photography with carefully considered typography, the design prioritises atmosphere over complexity - allowing small details to carry emotional weight.

It demonstrates how reduction, rather than addition, can create a more immediate and immersive visual experience.
